Discovery Harbour, located in Penetanguishene, is a historical harbour and 19th century outpost dating back to 1793. There are ships and buildings from the era, the old dockyard and more to see that gives quite a bit of insight into what life was like in this former naval and military outpost.
Sainte Marie among the Hurons, located on the shores of Georgian Bay, is the ancestral land of the Huron Wendat nation (Iroquoian family). Europeans arrived in the 17th century under the French explorer Samuel de Champlain, who called the area "mer douce" (sweet sea). Various festivals and heritage activities are run throughout the year for families to enjoy.
